How to classify common LED numbers

The most commonly used digital display device is the LED digital tube (namely, the light emitting diode), which is composed of a certain number of light emitting diodes.

According to the circuit connection form, LED digital tubes can be divided into two categories: common anode and common cathode.

① The common anode LED nixie tube is a kind of nixie tube that connects the anodes (positive electrodes) of eight light-emitting diodes together to form a public anode. It is characterized by that when the pen electrode is connected to a low level and the public anode is connected to a high level, the corresponding pen segment can be lit up and emit light.

② The common cathode leads the digital tube. This type of digital tube is just the opposite of the common anode tube. It connects the cathode (negative pole) of the LED to form a common cathode; When the drive signal is high and the com terminal is low, the corresponding pen segment can be lit.

LED digital tubes have a wide variety of types, which can be roughly divided into the following categories.

(1) Classification according to overall dimensions

At present, the same model standard has not been formed for digital, which is generally determined by the manufacturer itself. Small LED digital tubes are usually dual in-line, including 0.3in, 0.5in, 0.8in, 1in, etc; The large digital tube adopts the printed board plug-in type.

(2) Sort according to the number of digits displayed

At this time, nixie tubes can be divided into three categories: one bit, double bit and multiple bit. Among them, one digit LED nixie tube is commonly referred to as LED nixie tube, while more than two digit nixie tubes are usually packaged together with multiple single nixie tubes, which has the advantage of compact structure and lower cost compared with multiple single digit nixie tubes (such as LC5012-11S dual LED display).

In order to reduce the number of external leads and reduce the power consumption of nixie tubes, some models of LED nixie tubes adopt the dynamic scanning display mode, which is characterized by connecting the electrodes of each pen segment together to form a leading out end, and each nixie tube emits light in turn according to a certain order. When the bit scanning frequency is high enough, the human eye cannot detect the flickering phenomenon.

(3) Classification according to display brightness

At this time, the nixie tube can be divided into three categories: ordinary brightness, high brightness and ultra-high brightness. Among them, the ordinary brightness leads the luminous intensity of the digital tube to>0.3 mcd; The high brightness led the luminous intensity of the nixie tube Iu>5mcd, which increased by nearly an order of magnitude, and the high brightness nixie tube can give off light normally at about 1mA current.

(4) Classification according to font structure

At this time, nixie tubes can be divided into two categories: nixie tubes and symbol tubes. Among them, the symbol tube can display many symbols, such as ten, one, →, etc., while the "meter" tube can display 26 English letters, such as operational symbols (ten, one, X, ÷) and A~Z. Therefore, the meter tube is often used as a display circuit for unit symbols.

In addition, common classification methods include classification according to the structure of co yang or co yin, and classification according to the color of emitted light.
